You can do that, but the body of the 9005 is smaller than the 9006. To make it 'fit' better and seal in the housing, you need to add an additional O-ring around the body of the 9005.

I don't recall the exact size I used, but it was a metric O-ring.

I went from 160 lumen incandescent to 1700 lumen halogen in a reverse light housing on another vehicle.

Removed the 1156 bulb socket, pressed out the sleeve the bulb sat in, drilled it out to the o.d. of the 9005, then cut the majority of the body off until there was just a ring.

I had to grind a bit on the bulb flange, so the 9005 filament was at the same focal point to the reflector. Went from transverse filament to axial, but at the same measurement to the reflector. Much brighter.

I dont understand why you guys are doing it behind the headlight, i just went over to my driver side fender, found the wires in the harness and tapped into it there, and ran a power to the battery, Done.

How exactly did you do it that way? Is it easier than the other way?

DDM tuning hid kit in high and low beams with HD harness. DDM tuning Led switchbacks in running/turn signals. Also have my rigid d2 duallys on in the pic as well. 4 hi is great with hids, such a simple but great mod.

I'm running 6K 55W was thinking about going for something whiter like yours. Looks stock enough but also looks modern and updated.

I'm a fan of the white in the obs, just looks normal to me where the blue looks a little odd. Plus like I said I was trying to match the colors. Either way the 4 hi makes the high beam warm up so much better. I'll post another pic without the rigids on and see what the difference is.

My questions about this hi4 mod is, I have a 92 C 1500 with drls will this mod affect the drls and do i need to rewire to draw power from the battery instead of the switch ordoes my 92 already do this?

You need to do away with your DRLs. You can pull the fuse for the DRLs and that is all you need. As for wiring, yes the supply wiring needs to come directly off of the battery. The issue is that the OE wiring to the headlights are a small Gauge wire. By coming off the battery with a larger supply wire, it gives a larger supply to draw from. There is no need to replace all the wiring from side to side. All you need to do is make a tie in from the battery with a larger size wire. 12 GA is plenty big enough.
