Last night I was converting my aux power outlets to usb outlets. Didn't notice until I was done that the right hand spring popped out. Can't seem to see where the one end connects. Hopefully someone can help me so I can close the ashtray and it will stayed closed.
Thank you

I've had to replace springs on my '93 ash tray. I've noticed all the late model interior parts are more or less the same-yet-updated design as the early model interior. That being said, if you can get the ash tray out you can see how it works and fix it from there. It takes a LOT of patience to put the springs back in but it should be in there somewhere.

Thank you all for your help. Ended up finally figuring it out last night. Was going to take the whole ashtray out but it has a rivet at the bottom on each side. 1500z71, you're right it did take some patience. Now I know what to do and what not to do next time.

My ash tray has the same issue. I've considered putting one of those aftermarket 12v outlet things in the front of my center console facing forward so it easily accessible, plenty of cord left for my charger, but not in plain sight.

BTW, my center console is one of those uni

My ashtray did the same thing. I've decided to add one of those universal 12v outlets that most parts stores sell to the front of my center console about midway down. It will be close enough to give me more slack for my phone charger, I won't have the cord draping from the dash to the console while driving, and it won't be in plain sight but extremely accessible. I'll post pics once it's completed.

I'll just use a few dots of super glue to hold the tray shut since I don't smoke and won't need that door open anymore.
