ditched the 8.1 swap and decided to go with the 7.4 (engine swap 5.0 to 7.4).

Spoke with Straub Technologies about a custom cam for my BB, he suggested a roller cam custom ground for torque that will take advantage of the factory heads. It'll work with the factory PCM tune and valve train if that's the way I want to go. He suggested somewhere in the 350 HP and 520 tq. range.

I pulled the valve covers off to see what the inside looked like, it was spotless so I feel good about that.

Anyone have any luck using roller rockers under the factory covers?

Full roller? Probably won't fit, but I haven't tried. The covers are awful shallow though. Of course they'll fit roller tip which aren't much of an advantage over stock.

Yep, full roller, I've seen around on the net that with a 1/4" spacer they will work with the factory covers, was just wondering if any here have done it.

Haven't had a lot of time to spend on my project, been working on one of my boys truck. We put a 6.0 in a 99 silverado and then decided to step it up a little so we pulled it and have been collecting everything for a cam swap and head porting.

I did pull the valve covers on the BB and man its clean for a motor with 146,000 miles on it so I'm happy to see that.

I think I have everything worked out including the CNP swap so I'n left with what to do with the wiring harness.

I have not had any luck finding a K2500 or K3500 harness with auto trans (still looking) so I am looking into modifying the one I got from the 98 manual C3500. Anyone have any input of what I may need to change to make it work in my 96? The things I know that may be needed are the trans wires from the PCM to the trans. I know the 98 has some wires on the passenger side that the 96 & 97 don't have so I'll need to work that out. I'm not sure on the speed sensors as to did the manual trans have them and what is the difference between the 4x4 and the 4x2?
