I'm another guy who likes the tailgate band, and if I could find a really good one, on a black tailgate, I'd buy it for my truck. I hear that they are difficult to remove from one tailgate to another.

So, there's a bump, although I can't help with the original question.

They aren't that hard to remove, just use a small saw or a wire while heating the emblem to remove it. That's how I got mine I'd just like to shine it up without repainting it

Thanks for the info. I'm not sure when I will do mine, but as nice as yours looks, I will do mine sooner or later. I have done my OE aluminum rims some time ago. They came out very nice. As good as they came out, I figured it would work on the tail gate banner. You can see my reflection in the center cap. The Goodyears were about 2 years ago, when I first did them, the pic with the Coopers is about 1 year ago. They still look as good today, but I wax my truck (rims also) about once a month. Once I did the repaint in Oct. 2013, I take very good care of my truck's paint. I have always taken very good care of my truck. You can see my truck in my profile, on my pictures.

Sure thing man! I need to get my wheel polishing kit out and do mine. My mags are looking rough [emoji23] I'll probably just give em a good soaking in acid and polish them from step 1

I wonder how hard it is to remove and reinstall the trim piece and get it powder coated? They really do excellent work these days with all kinds of candy and chrome looking powder coating processes and saves yourself the 3 days of labor, especially if you're as lazy as me ( I mean busy, very busy), and don't own a DA polisher. It was something I was considering doing.

Mine came off real easy by hand and wasn't completely destroyed but I had no Intensions of re-installing. It's dented and scratched so it became a garage decoration. I'll buy a new one down the road.

My truck is an SL so it never had a banner. I have an SLT tailgate with the GMC banner. Good to know I can get it off and put it on my current tailgate. What to use to reattach it, panel bond? Mine has some dents so I was thinking of painting it to match my bottom color.
