Really? The front end suspension is a lot different but the steering components are identical. I looked up stock steering gears for both the 4x4 and the 2wd and they are the SAME. Therefore I used the ss box and the only problem I had was bleeding it and after that it was great. The reman pumps from autozone are garbage and I've gone through a few of those already

I feel like you and I both find ourselves constantly repeating this...

 This, check your RPO codes, CompNine... Seems like all I've typed here lately.

Yes, really. We've discussed this quite a bit recently. Personally if I were you I'd be putting a factory style box back in there.

Maybe a quicker ratio gearbox would work as a quick fix for a sloppy steering system! Idler and pitman loose? Tie rods? No worries, it will feel like new with a new gearbox.

haha no i've replaced everything in the front steering. new idler and pitman arms. after i decided i needed a new gearbox and thought i might as well try the quicker ratio box. Not sure i get roll over concerns since the qr box doesnt make the turn travel any further. if you turn it fast at high speed doent matter what ratio your box is you're going to roll.

True, but the Q/R box definitely accentuates that issue. Fewer turns of the wheel lock to lock = more steering from less wheel effort. A quick jerk of the wheel in a panic situation with the Q/R box as opposed to the factory box has a lot more potential to go badly on a 4X4.

well if you know what your truck will do then in a panic situation you probably wont compensate as much. and it really isn't that much more sensitive than the stock box. I haven't once felt like i was going to flip in my truck because of the qr box.
