I have a 1996 K1500 Suburban that has the audio randomly cut out on me. All of the equipment is stock and it does has the UQ3 package, meaning it has the rear "amplifier" under the seat. To better explain the "cutting out", I'm just cruising down the road with the music, then without warning the volume shuts off. The radio is still on and the volume knob does not control the volume. It's like someone pressed a mute button on my headunit. There is no buzzing, humming, etc. Also, no fuses are popped. I've tried adjusting the settings on the radio for it to play only from the front speakers but no dice. Does anyone else have any similar issues and found out what was the cause of it?

. I would start looking for a short or blown speaker. The speakers in the rear roof always give me problems. My problem was the factory amp when I had the same thing happen to me.

Thanks for the input :) I definitely think it has to be a short or blown speaker causing the issue. I've always heard those rear roof speakers rattling, so you're probably correct. If I replace the roof speakers I'd might as well just do the whole truck, since I've been meaning to do it for a while haha. Looks like I have an incentive to do so now.

Is there anyway to test if the factory amp is faulty?

Actually I'm not sure. I bypassed my amp wired the speakers to the head unit. But I was using after market speakers and head unit.
