Duramax Swap

Would you swap a 6.6l to your 6.5l?

Hi All,

My apologies if this has been covered, I've searched this forum and didn't find much.
Has anyone done, or considered a duramax swap into a gmt400?

I started thinking about this today as I've been searching for a 1 ton CC to buy since i've outgrown my 5.7 EC.
I happened across a 97 SRW CC with a dead 6.5l (shocking!) for sale.
If a complete truck -engine can be had for cheap enough, I figure it may be worth it to swap in the newer engine to save the cost of buying a newer truck, but still have the benefit of the power and gas mileage in a 6.6l duramax.

Another benefit to me would be smog exemption in CA since 97 and older Diesels don't require smog.

Any thoughts?
Would you consider doing this swap?

I also think he's on here but hasn't posted much;

Personally, as cool as a Duramax OBS sounds, it'd be hard to beat a simple 12 Valve build.

This. Duramax are cool, but Cummins is the way to go. Easier, cheaper, and a much more reliable engine.

Are you guys talking about a white RCSB? It's got a NBS rear bumper and tons of color matched stuff? If you are I sorta remember it, sick looking truck, y'all should post pics
