Please forgive me for all this reading and if this is not the right place please redirect me but let me get on with it. Let me give you guys the rundown and a little backstory. I have a 1992 Chevrolet Silverado k1500 4x4 ECSB. My father owned the truck before me he bought it when it had the original engine in it with probably 180,*** miles or so, No clue really. He swapped another 350 tbi in it right before I inherited it new, from jasper motors is what ive been told. Had maybe 10,000 when I got it. Was very hard on that motor, Lost compression on #1 cyl and blew gasket and floated a valve (i think, I didnt do the inspection). It sat like that for 6 months. Once it messed up I decided to take up a man on his deal it was a (91 or 93 Cant remember) 350 tbi from a truck like mine but was in a blazer he had and that and a 700r4 trans for 500$. He stated it had around 40,000 miles or so on it which there was no accurate way to tell so i figured 500$ isnt much to lose considering i sold the trans for 200$. On to the point, When i got it (he showed me boxes that i didnt pay much attention to) of the comp cam he put in the engine and an edelbrock torker II i believe intake on it. Also it had a smaller oil pan on it, other than that the engine is all stock. After i bought that engine money was tight so i waited another 4-5 months until i got a mechanic i know to swap it in for a couple hundred, as i am not knowledgeable enough to do it myself, which maybe now i am reconsidering.

Got the truck back maybe a week and a half ago and it sounded like it had a good sized cam in it but the cam that i was shown was supposed to be a RV cam. Sounded terrible right after start up, had a hard time idling until warm and ran horrible. Me and my dad got to tinkering with it and the vacuum lines were completely mapped wrong. That helped considerable amount but still tried to die on start up and until given gas it would idle and surge between 100-1000 rpm. Played with vacuum some more and got the correct diagram and fixed that. Cranks and idles almost right now. Ive replaced a nonexistant o2 sensor, IAC, Knock sensor, plugs, CTS, and a tps i just put on last night.

Now heres where I am currently stuck. I crank the truck when it is completely cold and i get a horrible knock, could be lifter, loose rocker, valves maybe, all things ive been told. I have no idea about the knock but it soon goes away while warming up about 5 or so minutes after start. But my main problem is when it is warm or cold if i go to rev it in park over 1200 and up to around 2000 rpm it will try dropping down in rpms and sputter/ missfire. If i let off the throttle completely while at those rpm it will drop down to 100 or so rpm and almost die but has never died and then goes to idling around 450-600 in park (with a misfire i cant track down) It does it going down the road but not near as bad. I can barely feel it. After warm and in drive itll idle closer to 200-300 rpm which seems low. Ive used a paperclip and accessed the aldl and im getting codes 22 and 43 tps, and ESC. Ive also never messed with the timing or even know how to. When i replaced the knock sensor i unscrewed a plug and nothing came out. From another forum i read the knock sensor is also a plug for coolant and the sensor needs to touch the Water jacket? Im Clueless here as ive never done a whole bunch of mechanic work myself but id love to learn just inexperienced. I seen on that forum that a guy had to use a screwdriver to clear a way for coolant to come out? Maybe i should do that. I've searched and searched but cant find much infomation towards my problem. I truly hope someone can point me in the right direction here as i DD this truck now. Sorry for all the reading i just want to get as much information across as i can so maybe someone will have an idea.
