Picked up a 1993 Cheyenne 2wd for $1200. Has 350 tbi , 4l60e , and 263,000 miles. Gray exterior , tan interior.

currently in my school shop for repairs(by me of course) - used trans (4l60e 123K miles), windshield wiper motor(used), gauge cluster (123k), remove cat convertor - 3" pipe to thrush glass pack.

when I bought I knew it had certain issues, however did not know the trans was on its way out. It drove fine for a month , then I no longer had third or fourth gear. Before the trans took a dump , the exhaust rusted through and fell off. While on a long drive in the rain , my wiper motor decided to go out. And to top it all off, the gauge cluster only has one working gauge, the speedometer(non tach model).

I have the new trans mounted into the truck , drive shaft in (new rear u-joint) , and the new cluster in. I replaced the filter in the trans , and i blew the old fluid out of the cooler lines. I hope to have the truck ready to go sometime this week , and whenever it's out I will take pictures.

If there is any reason as to gauges not working let me know, I will be checking grounds and fuses tomorrow.

Looks like a good project…
I can tell you that is a semi float 14 bolt, and you have a light duty 2500. It's essentially a 1500 with a 14 bolt and heavy duty front springs, with six bolt brake rotors. If you want to lift it, the 4" spindle lift for the 1500's will work for it, and so will the lowering kits if you want to go the other way…

I'm guessing you've checked the fuses for the radio and gauges, so I would say you would want to look at the grounds next and then the sensors themselves…

AH so my Z71 is in fact a HD1500 , sweet.

Yes I have checked the fuses and none are blown... Which ground circuits do those function off of. I know the body ground right by the battery, the ground at the T-stat housing, and the block of grounds on the firewall.

I'm not sure where you got that from, but the RCLB 2500 you have is what could be considered a heavier duty 1500… Not sure about the Z71, if it has a SF 14B it could be an RPO F44…

My " new " transmission took a dump. No forward or reverse gears. From what I've read it would be the torque converter trashing the trans fluid pump , or the output shaft being trashed. Either way, I might go pick up a 40,000 mile 4l60e for $250 today.... and then take the pump from the original trans and throw it on the 135,000 mile trans that just took a dump in hopes to fix its issue.

Any input is greatly appreciated.

Nice truck, sucks that you've had so many issues with it

What's the difference between these square headlight 90's models and the one's with the rectangular headlights?

The two beam headlights are work truck or low trim level trucks and were available through the entire run of the truck, 88-98. The quad beam trucks were the mid to higher trim level trucks...
