Just do the intake gaskets first... and take it one part at a time. I doubt the timing set is trashed since you're idling OK and it's only under load (or quick throttle-up) that you're having issues.

Current guess is distributor teeth are somehow chewed along with the intake gaskets. Really hoping its not head related but could go that way. Its got me and several others baffled for sure.
Looked at replacing whole motor. Cant find a junkyard one.
At this point its not that I couldnt fix it with enough time and money, its just that ive lost all motivation too. Just ready to have it gone and start driving something reliable.

I should add that last time I tried to move it, it barely did. Full throttle was almost necessary to get it to go anywhere. Just moving it around my yard is now impossible. It was able to drive up and down the road before. Somehow its gotten worse just by sitting.

If motor replacement is on your mind, have you considered a GM 350 crate motor? Or to make it a more interesting project.. 6.0 out of NBS 3/4 ton truck?
As I remember you're not a complete stranger to LS swaps so that might be more up your alley.
