well rockauto, lmc trucks, and classic parts do not carry just the roller piece i need from what im seeing you have to buy the whole hinge assembly and i dont need nor want to do that, i know you can buy the pins and bushings at advance auto and im thinking i seen a newer model roller pin at advance but it was for the 99-up models is that the same design, would it work for the 94 model roller, or ????

The rollers should be the same. You can order DORMAN 38433 on rockauto.com. That should do the trick

Is there a good thread or YouTube video on changing the doors out completely

I bought a pair of front doors for the 1995 2 door Tahoe that were completely stripped down. Now I have to re-install everything. Regulators, rubber stripping, handles, everything

I've never messed with doors before. I am looking for a good tutorial. I need to know everything step by step, including how to in stall the rubber stripping. I haven't found anything past this thread yet

What did you guys to press/install the new bushings in with damaging them?

I just put two new doors on the truck and with them, new rollers, hinge pins, and bushings. I had a bear of a time getting the bushings in properly. Couldn't get enough leverage with large channel locks and hammering them ended up breaking two of them. So I made a little press out of a 2" 5/16 bolt, two fender washers, a 9/16" short socket and a nut. Worked perfect. Each bushing took less than 3 minutes and I didn't have to worry about damaging my fresh new paint.

Here's some pictures. Definitely the way to do them.

Did the exterior door handle replacement today, used the great help in this thread. Just want to add that this job is fairly easy, just a matter of going methodically, thinking ahead. Don't do what I did, which is to snap the interior panel back on without putting the door light into place first.

Also, to remove the exterior handle, it helps to have the key in the lock, as you can then turn the key to move the lever to where you need it to remove or replace the handle more easily.

I done this before, never had to replace a roller though. I used a floor jack with a block of wood and some padding, a second set of hands to steady it, then i removed the door pins, swapped new bushings, and reinstalled the door. My neighbor held the door steady on my floor jack. I put a bit of duct tape on the fender and door edges before doing this to protect it. Doing it this way i didnt have to pull the door panels and disconnect all the electrical.

Hi Ginger,

I like the door panel mounting pins on your 95 up tahoe. I wonder if that setup will fit my 94 with old style door panels. That looks like a better setup than the dang plastic christmas trees that are one maybe 2 time use.

Ordered pins and bushings for the driver's side door today. The passenger side on my low mileage truck is just fine. I plan to use a come-a-long, and a strap sling fastened to the rafters of my garage to hold the door while I do this job.

I ordered the parts from Johnsons Auto Body supply--apparently they have good quality parts, but a one-door set is just under $20.

With the help of this thread, I hope this job goes easily, and I'll post the results when I get the job done.

Hey guys,
I need some help. So my inside and outside door handles are both broke on my drivers door. I don't want to destroy my door panel but is there a way I can get my door open?

You gotta torch??

Seriously, roll the window down, and press down on the latch at the rear edge of the door, using a flashlight and some sort of stiff metal bar. Look down into the space where the outside handle is located, and you should see the lever from the handle that goes down into the latch. (I've never actually done this myself, but I think it should work with trial and error.)
