I just received my pcm for less tune from Keith, I'm installing it on my 1996 Silverado 5.7 vortec 4X4. Ive never installed one before should I unhook the battery before I install the new pcm? Once I get it installed I will write a review of the power gains I feel from the pcm for less tune.

I installed my new pcm from pcm for less, the install only took 10 minutes I unhooked the battery and then installed the new pcm. So far I have only put about 25 miles on it, I noticed that the truck seemed smoother at take off and moved itself effortlessly. As far as the shifting goes I didn't really notice any difference, but I haven't done WOT run yet just normal driving. Plus by what I've read it takes about 150 miles for everything to set in. So I will write a follow up later on this week once I do some more driving and do a few WOT runs

. As far as pcm for less service was great keith answered all of my questions and I ordered my pcm early Monday morning and had it Tuesday! I ordered my tune with 93 octane, moderate shift points, towing, and all I have done is K&N drop in air filter and a magnaflow muffler. I asked Keith at pcm for less what the average horsepower gain would be for the 93 octane tune and he said 25hp to 30hp and about 1mpg to 2mpg gain. Here is a few pictures with the new pcm installed.

I've done a lot of driving today and the tune is really starting to settle in I can now tell the shifts are a lot quicker and solid feeling. And I did a few WOT runs and all I got a say is wow this old 5.7 Vortec is like a new animal. The truck accelerates harder and smoother at all rpm range and shifts great. So was it worth the money hell ya lol, I paid $315 but that was because I chose to keep my original pcm just in case something was to happen. I don't have any mpg numbers yet once I get a few tanks thru it ill post back with results on if I notice any better fuel economy.

I've actually noticed that each shift holds for 300rpm higher than the stock shifts did which will be great for towing my camper in the summer.

I just took a trip from Clio Michigan, to Indiana 235 miles, I ran 73 to 75mph on the way there and got 16.8mpg which is a solid 1.5mpg increase from what I was getting before the tune. On the way back I ran it a little harder 75 to 76mph with higher winds and I got 16.2mpg I'm very impressed with fuel mileage of this truck. I'm guessing I could get 17mpg to 17.5mpg running 70 to 72mph. Again I did go with the 93octane premium tune and I don't regret it one bit.
