I recently installed the McGaughy's 4/6 kit on my truck. The kit comes with 2" spindles, 2" springs and new shocks for the front and C-notch and flip kit for the rear also with new shocks. The truck is loose feeling in the rear and rides like crap. It really feels like the shocks to me but I was wondering if anyone had experienced this when using this kit. Thanks in advance for any advice.

From what i've experienced, its usually the shocks when it comes to a ****** ride on the rear of trucks. I've heard good about the belltech nitro shocks.

Check your leaf spring bushings, and body bushings. My truck rides like crap in the rear too (opposite spectrum), and I have been advised if its not those 2 things it's most likely shot leaf springs.

If it feels loose now and did not before the flip, re-check all your hardware particularly the U-bolts.

Poor ride quality is very likely going to be the shocks, since a flip on its own generally doesn't affect ride quality as you're keeping the stock spring pack. Does their kit come with shock extenders? That's one gotcha if it doesn't; shock angle is pretty poor (read: crazy extreme angle) with a flip so even good quality drop shocks can't do their job as well as they should. Extenders help correct the angle a little bit.

I'll second the Belltech shocks as I've used them myself for countless miles. The current line is called "Street Performance", I believe Nitro Drops have been replaced with those.

I've always run KYB gas-a-just wth shock extenders and my trucks have always ridden great.

The shock extenders helped me forsure, my frame was hitting rearend and once extenders installed and proper angles back it wasn't anymore. Also running belltech street performance shock. Replacing all my body bushing helped too, hope this helps.

Thank you all. I installed the extenders and they helped but didn't fix it. I have some monroe shocks I bought that were suggested from the shock forum. I will install them Friday and update. I can't believe the kit didn't come with extenders. Hard to believe people haven't complained enough for McGaughy's to start including them. Shock angle was extreme to say the least before I installed them. I'm thinking the reason it still rides rough is because the shocks that came with the kit weren't designed for the extenders.
Thanks!!!

Has the box cross-member been notched over the rear diff. pumpkin?
Time for an upper shock mount relocation! That really smarten upped the rear suspension on mine!

I did about the same thing on my '90 RCSB. But when I tore it apart it got new leaf springs (I punched the new rubber bushings out and installed the greased poly bushings) Belltech drop shocks with out the extenders and all new hardware. That thing was fantastic driving and handling, and no need for a rear sway bar add on, rode and drove mint.

The key is make sure everything is tight and a good set of shocks.

Got pics of this thing?
