I have a 1989 K 1500 350. I noticed that the factory temp gauge wasn't functioning correctly so i decided to put in an aftermarket digital. There is one wire from the sender on the block to the digital gauge. Then the gauge has a ground wire that i grounded next to the OBD1 port under the dash. My problems are when i turn any accessories on, the gauge will raise up in temperature but i know the truck is not overheating. This leads me to believe that the ground is not good but i have changed the grounds and again i get the same results. I recently fixed my A/C system and now when i turn the A/C on the temperature on the digital gauge will shoot up 30 degrees. If anyone has any ideas to what would help with the issue i would appreciate any advice. I did see a similar thread about a temperature gauge but it was mechanical.

Double check your gauge wiring and make sure you engine-frame, engine-cabin. and engine-bat ground connections are good.
