That is strange that they don’t have it compatible for a 96, but thanks for updating with what worked.

I just paid for car gauge pro this is a terrible app I can't get this stupid thing to work it just keeps disconnecting and then every time that it asks you how do you want to connect and you check GM then it basically tries to scan all the codes but won't let me get into the dash to read the CMP retard offset there must be some trick to this crap

I click connect and check GM and checks can hope it's after it's done it says no pids supported yet I'm able to get in here and clear the check engine light so I don't understand what's up with this app I guess I might have to ask for my money back on it and download the dashcommand instead

Both are kind of flaky for me. Mine works ok as long as I’m in the truck near the OBD adapter, but even then it doesn’t stay consistently connected.

I usually use DashCommand since it’s quicker and doesn’t have to go through the PID scan/download thing every time. But it disconnects all the same, I think it’s the Bluetooth adapter that is the issue.

I'm sitting in my 97 Powerstroke Diesel and I'm able to go in and Buzz the injectors and do all kinds of stuff yet I can't read the CMP retard offset on a 97 GMC Sierra go figure and this diesel is the most difficult computer to connect to and it works with both my adapters I downloaded dashcommand but then they want another $10 just for the pid? So what I got to spend $20 just to do that and then $10 on this one now I'm $30 into some crap and I bet you that lead tech at my work can probably do it with his launch tablet

I'm wondering if any of the launch tablets that they're selling on eBay for under $200 are capable of reading the CMP retard offset I'm looking at the
Launch creader vii+

Yeah, DashCommand charges for the download then the additional charge for the year vehicle.

Have you ever looked into those Tech-2 “clones” that they sell?

No ..hmm..so Isaac at car gauge pro emailed me back and said that the app and the elm327 adapter are not compatible with 96 through 98
So then how the hell has anyone ever read the cam retard offset with car gauge pro then? Because 96 is the first year of OBD2 and a 99 or newer truck would be an LS1
I'm skeptical to pay another $10 2 - command but if it will help me read the cam retard offset then maybe it's worth it I have a feeling the truck has other issues

Yeah, that doesn’t make a lot of sense does it.

This is what I used with mine. I don’t know if it is the adapter or the cheapo android tablet from Walmart, but lately it disconnects fairly often if you aren’t sitting in the truck with it.

I think it’s my tablet, I paid maybe $30 for it so you get what you pay for.

So what year is your truck that you're able to read the CMP on?
Also do you know if they sell that adapter on eBay I prefer to order from eBay than Amazon because I have a PayPal and everything set up and I'm also a seller on eBay
