Can someone take a picture of the inside of their 89 cabin roof - without the headliner installed ? I purchased an overhead console and I am wondering what is under there support structure wise I can screw into (if anything) or if the headliner alone is what supports those overhead consoles when installed. If the roof structures didnt change then any year pic will do .....THANKS in advance .

The regular cab doesn't have console slots. Apparently the crew cabs do. The drill is to cut off the tabs and use sheet metal screws in the back of the console. The front screw mounts as usual. @sewlow can most likely tell you what screws to use. I have not installed mine yet.

I borrowed this pic from a thread on here somewhere on how to do it. There is some space between the skins but you have to use a fairly short screw or you will pierce the roof.

I did mine so long ago I can't remember how long those screws were. my headliners are not done with stock original type material. Closed cell foam & perforated vinyl. The CC is more dense & the vinyl is thicker than original, so the screws I used would be longer than with the regular H/L material.
Drill the holes in the console first for those screws.
Figure where the console fits best & then mark those pre-drilled holes on the H/L. Drill through that inner skin then use the drill bit to figure out how much space there is to the outer skin. I wrap some masking tape on the drill bit where it meets the inner skin once it's touching the outer.

Got the Father’s Day advertisement from Classic Parts and was browsing around, this looked pretty cool for regular cabs. Has a small console, dome light, and speakers. Might be a bit off topic but it looks pretty neat and figured I’d share

LMC has been selling these for years now. Bad speakers, bad speaker locations, and butt ugly IMO. To each their own, though.
