Ok, so my usage of body filler is extremely limited and with what I'm wanting to do I wasn't sure if it would work.

I have an idea for the stock larger capacity airbox. I was thinking about smoothing it out and painting it gloss black. Just not sure how well bondo would work on that plastic with under hood temps. I will be running shorty headers as well so underhood temps will be up over stock.

The plastic housing is more flexible than thick layers of bondo so I think you would end up with cracks. Those housings are plentiful and cheap at salvage yards so no harm in trying as it is easy to replace.

No body filler including bondo will work for this. All body filler is just for filling very small imperfection, and is intended to be used to fill a dip in sheet metal. So basically it is intended to be used in millage thickness. Anything thicker than about 1/16 of an inch is to thick, and will crack. IMO the groves are there to promote air flow over the box, but thats just an educated guess. If you want to fill these groves, you may look into something like plasti dip like for tool handles or something like that. You will have to find a way to dam up the cover so that you could poor on a rubberized compound. Or maybe flex seal liquid should work for this too.
