I'm interested in seeing the results; I was honestly a little disappointed when my dad said our 99 struggled to pull the camper, I figured 4.56 and a 454 it'd pull like nothing was back there.
I've been tempted to loan him my K2500 to see how it pulls but with no sort of trailer wiring anymore it's a no go.

I’m hoping the 6.5L and 4.10s won’t have much problem. I just had a shift kit put in the 4L80E also, so I’m really interested in how it will do.

Towing in 3rd and letting it eat in 4th when it needs to; I told him to install a bigger trans cooler and maybe a shift kit so he could let it run a little harder without tearing anything up but he doesn't want to put a lot of money in this truck.

The truck towed great! I stayed on the highway though, no interstate, so it was 55 and under the whole way. Climbing some hills I saw 205 on the coolant temp gauge and up to 190 on the trans temp gauge in the stop and go but they came right back down when we got going. I’m going to try 70 mph on the interstate on the return trip Monday. Had to pose for a shot after unhooking the trailer too:

Lot of trailer space left over I know (the plan was to take the cab as well, but he ended up not having anything to lift it off the frame, so I just pillaged the cab of what I wanted and left it with him)

Stock trans programming on these big blocks is exceptionally bad. They downshift sooner than a 4.3 I swear.

Meant to quote Brody, my bad. My only concern with a 6.5 and 4.10 would be a lack of legs, i.e. if it does downshift from 4-3 there's nothing there and it has to bog down to its happy place which is probably slower than you want to go.

Couple of tows with the dually. The full size truck is a duramax and has to be around 8k. Pulled pretty good.
