I don't necessarily recommend this but back in the day when I bought and sold a crap ton of cars I used to use oven cleaner on a hot engine rinsed off with my garden hose and followed up with tire shine. The tire shine and the oven cleaner came from the dollar store. Worked okay for something you're going to get rid of pretty quick. Couldn't tell you what the long-term results were.
