Ok, so who has done what? I'm one of those guys who even on my daily driver if I replace things or remove them I have a had time leaving them alone, lol. I need to get some pics of my current project which is what made me think of this thread. I can't find much on gmt400 custom engine bays. I know I'm not the only one who does this, so let's share.

Right now I'm in the process of replacing my fuel system and exhaust. So while I have the intake apart I coated the top shell with 3 coats of Duplicolor Aluminum engine enamel. Did the same to the throttle body after I did the blade mod to it. Also shot the MAF ends too. Next up on my list is thermostat housing in Aluminum color and the valve covers in gloss black. I'm also stripping the new Summit shorties to coat with Aluminum color VHT. And I got some nice high temp titanium plug wire sleeves to dress it up and protect the wires.

I'm seriously thinking about grabbing a extra set of stock pulleys and shooting them with the Aluminum engine enamel too.

And I have a plan for a DIY cold air setup using the stock box but deleting the ribbed section, silencer and hat that goes on the TB. Also debating the swap to electric fans to clean that area up too.

@low4x4 has one of the sweetest (EDIT - No, that's not right, it's THE sweetest...) GMT400 engine bays I've ever seen. 355 with a Procharger and a functional cowl hood. Last post on page four of this thread.

brockstar15 posted some pretty nice GMT400 engine bays on the bottom of page 12 of that same thread.

No, thank you for building that work of art!

I'd love to see some higher resolution pictures of the truck if you ever feel like posting them.

Holy crap, that's sweet.

I am obsessive about having it clean under-hood, even though there is absolutely no semblance of performance. I put on a set of tall polished aluminum valve covers (some cheapo Ebay brand), cleaned up the intake, put on a polished tbi spacer and a 3" air cleaner spacer, chrome air cleaner with a tall filter, ceramic coated headers, yellow plug wires, painted the coil candy red, relocated the control module for the charcoal canister off the engine, and routed the hoses and wires as discretely as possible.

Mine is just clean. I need to so something with the installation under the hood, Mine is dirty. The Vortecs are a little harder to make look good. I'm in the process of an E~fan swap, so I will loose the OE shroud soon. I used Stoner trim shine after cleaning my engine.

I know this isn't exactly eye candy. But what and how do you guys clean the engine bay the best? I have seen people in the past use engine degreaser and either a hose, or power washer. But I have never personally do e it, and frankly kind of scared to do it. If thats the only way so be it, but any steps in protecting electeical stuff inside the bay would be greatly appreciated.

I've used Gunk Engine degreaser , purple power, and extreme green, give it a few minutes, and a wash with a hose. Also a cloth, toothbrush, and patience for other areas. The electrical connections are sealed, but I try to not spray them directly too much. Alcohol, brake/carb/electonic cleaners work well for getting metal parts really clean. You can also rub tire shine or wd40 on the hoses.

Lots of the brackets and stuff I took off and painted.
