If you do the mail order tune, keep your original computer and don't send it back in for the core charge. That way you can stick it back in if you need to send off your computer for a retune. I got my core charge back, and then had to buy a junkyard computer to use later on when I needed a retune.

How about torque converter stall? What are the limitations of the stock converter?

That cam is so mild your computer probably wont even realize something is different...i think mine in my Camaro runs at 19 inches of vacuum and idles like a sweetheart FWIW..... again because its so mild a converter swap isnt necessary ,,,

+1, it absolutely will run fine on stock tune, but a tuned PCM with stock cam is worth more power than cam and stock tune. Do both.

^^^^I could not give better advice with this.

Before I bought Tunercats OBD2, my 97 was tuned local by someone I know with Tunercats OBD2.

The tune woke it up a good bit.

I had a LT4 cam and 1.6s laying around I added along with the 4.3 converter, a Transgo HD2 and Vette servo.

Between the tune and other parts I dropped nearly a full second in the 1/8 in a heavy Express van.

I added an 0411 that I then HP Tuned. The 0411 had much better driveability than the black box even untuned.
