Hey everyone, I've never been on a forum before so I'm not 100% sure how this works. But I am looking for a thread, if there is one, where anyone has done a frame fix where it has rotted thru between the cab and bed. I bought a 98 ext cab stepside and somehow i missed a patch in the frame :wtf2: I'm curious what you guys have done to fix this area because what is on there now will hold it just looks like hammerd dog crap lol. If anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great! Thank you!

Welcome to the forum. I hate to tell you this, but a proper fix is to cut out the bad rusted metal, and replace it. To do a good job, you need good access to the bad, rusted area. To do this, you will need to remove what is in the way, (EG the cab, and or bed) Then once the bad metal is removed, the new to old metal repair needs to be beveled. The corners need to be rounded, and not square. Square corners are a stress point, and can crack. Then a proper weld needs to be applied. The metal need to cool slow after the welding process so that nothing cracks. Another words, proper welding procedure need to be followed.
