    Gear setup pattern..... noise..... advice?

    That pattern looks pretty good to me, fairly centered between the top and root of the teeth. Did you run the gears long at .003 backlash, that's awful tight. Diff book I have here says .007-.010 for new gears in a 10 bolt.

    Yeah, maybe I did crush or bend one of the hard lines enough to kink it when I did the whole axle swap. Thought I was careful enough, but you never know with 20 year old lines.

    Still cleans up pretty nice for being a drinkin' age truck. Polished the lenses front and rear. Applied a coat of 22ple HPC glass coat, we'll see how that holds up over the winter.

    I'd try a set of wheel speed sensors, they're not expensive. Or at least check the connections and clean the current ones. That should take care of 21, 22, and 25. Is this a 4L60E transmission? The PCM uses the VSS signal to shift, so does it shift fine and speedo work right? 73 sounds...

    I think it's gonna be close to 2 grand all said and done. Let's see, 200 for axle, 550 Truetrac, 300 for master rebuild kit, 120 axle bearings, 300 for brake parts, and maybe 300 for a Mag Hytec cover. And I've already spent a grand in cool tools to do the job, but I wanted all of them anyway...

    Thanks! Someday I need to check my pick n pull yard for better factory wheels. I like this style, but mine are in pretty rough shape. Just like the rest of the truck, dent in every panel. Keeps the door dings away. :D

    Do it! 14SF is a pretty easy swap, just kinda expensive. Hope it lasts forever, the plan is to build the truck back to front. 14SF first, then a built 4L65 or 4L80, then LS swap (probably L33 or LS1).
