    Blower motor selection

Since you mentioned these brands, I do have an anecdote to share that causes me to lean more towards VDO than Four Seasons. But take it with a grain of salt, because it was a different application for a completely different car: When it came to my Mustang's radiator fan motor, the VDO motor's...

    14 bolt leaking stupid ORW!

No, we're on the same page. Beam-style torque wrench and everything. New bearings, new oil, and no apparent change at the pinion after assembly. It's been a while, but I want to say it was something like 16 or 18 lb-in. I was surprised.

    14 bolt leaking stupid ORW!

Does it matter? I'm genuinely curious. So curious in fact, that when I rebuilt a Ford 8.8 a few years ago, I re-checked the preload multiple times during reassembly to see how much effect the other parts would have on the pinion's resistance to rotation. Even after installing the axleshafts and...

Brakes and diff questions plus clutch options

How fancy is too fancy? Not sure if you're looking specifically for pre-made lines, but nickel-copper tubing is a good alternative if you don't mind bending and flaring them yourself.

Things that you've replaced that made a world of differance?

To my embarrassment, I made the rookie mistake of neglecting to check the inner brake pads, assuming that they would more or less mirror the outer side that I could see. Boy was I wrong. Fresh brakes making full pad-to-rotor contact made a world of difference. Oh, and motor mounts! Mine were...

(You have insufficient privileges to post here.)

Huh, I actually posted my reply before going back to read the rules again, and it looks like "3 months" is already listed as a means to get full access. Cool, that's exactly what I had in mind. The way it's worded (particularly the use of the word "or") makes it sound like it's being offered...

I dunno man, that seems a little too much like (eh, "spamming" isn't the right word for it, but you know what I mean). There's got to be a better way. Heck, if it were up to me, I'd just give him a free pass for having been a contributing member more than 90 days, regardless of actual post count.

    4l60e shift kit

I have two unrelated anecdotes to share, one involving a B&M kit, and the other involving TransGo, both on different daily-driver transmissions, neither of which were GM. So take the following with a nice big grain of salt. The B&M kit was in a Ford 4R70W, on the bench for a full rebuild on...

    Broken motor mount

(I can see all 3 pics from here.) The rubber can degrade and fall out in small chunks. It's not completely trapped in there. Mine were so bad that the lower portion of rubber was all but gone, and without that support, the weight had torn the upper rubber away from the mount. I guess you could...

    Electrical Problems

I remember that one. Here's a link to the follow-up post with the grand total (>$38k).

    Broken motor mount

Not sure how much different the job is on a K model, but FWIW I changed the mounts on my '95 C2500 last year. It was pretty unpleasant, but well worth the effort considering how badly worn the old mounts were. The trickiest parts for me were lining up the mount holes and trying not to lose the...

    front hitch receiver

You win some, you lose some. Giving the wheels closest to the trailer some steering angle helps with maneuverability, but you lose out on being able to watch the sides with mirrors. You'll have a good view of the front of the trailer, but you won't be able to see where the trailer wheels are...

    1999 tahoe 4×4 brake trouble

I used a rotary (Dremel) tool to cut mine out. Your local parts store should have the rubber plugs you need to cover them back up.

    Trailer plugs

Yup, that's what I did on mine. I should have checked my state's laws first though. But it looks like I might be okay. It just says that there needs to be a lamp there shining white light on the plate, and that the plate must be clearly legible from 50 feet away. I'll check it again after it...

    Torque specs question

140 lb-ft, according to this chart. But that's without spacers. You might need to use a lower spec to avoid damaging whatever kind of aluminum they're made of (or whatever grade studs they have), so I'd still go with whatever they recommend there.
