    Vortec Lover's '98 K1500 Build

you will get more pleasure out of stuffing a girl rather than tires into your truck, but she will burn through that 14k in a couple months...:deal: bigger tires always looks better. you have plenty of tread for many miles of safe road travel though. I would straighten your current bumper...

need advice on gear ratios for towing with 89 GMC 2500

sorry have to check, but you are towing in 4th and not 5th? considered going to 265s? it would be close to equivalent to 4:10s(after added weight, and overall ratio, and assuming same amount of wear) FYI i have never pulled a trailer.

    4x4 Posi-Lok

the clip that secures the cable to the front diff is iffy. it takes 2-3 inches to engage, not the 1 stated. When pulling the cable you need to be sure you actually engaged the front hubs, if they are not in the right position it may not have engaged. I would personally prefer a twist and lock as...

thinking about going back to a thermal actuator

I believe so, but to be sure you have it you can look at the passenger side of your axle to see if you have -The thermal http://www.amazon.com/Dorman-600-100-4-WD-Actuator/dp/B000CISZ4I -the servo http://www.amazon.com/Dorman-600-101-4WD-Actuator/dp/B000IZ490Y really hard to miss it takes a...

    Upper Control Arm

grease everything while you are down there... if your upper control arms are really that toast then so are your lowers. rock auto has raybestos upper control arms for ~150, not sure what your time is worth.

thinking about going back to a thermal actuator

OG post for why i went down this path, the 'upgrade' works even though dealer said it wouldnt.. http://www.gmt400.com/forum/showthread.php?14140-Posi-Lok-Yes-or-No&p=376221#post376221 Spacer goes in to axle before the actuator. it makes the motor actuator as long as the original thermal...

thinking about going back to a thermal actuator

The posi-lok that the PO installed finally gave up after many years of faithful service. I checked the connector, put a fuse in and it still puts out 12v(ignition on). Anybody want to talk me out of this? Does it really take a 25 amp fuse? the wiring seems a little thin for 25 amps.
