2000 K2500 8.1 Swap

I solved the wiring issue by buying the whole donor truck 01-02 GMT455 w/8.1L and transferring the whole dash assembly with harness included. My truck originally came with the 5.7L and now has the 8.1L. I wasnt originally going to do that but I found the pinouts on the 5.7 vs 8.1 through wall...

I paid 3800 for mine. Pretty high but it is still a good running/driving truck. Im going to feel bad pulling it apart but the weight class (15k gvwr) of the truck makes it tough to pull a trailer legally. Also between what I would end up paying for all the misc pieces, made sense to buy complete...

Thanks - was researching the topic and saw this post pop up. Funny how it was spot on exactly what I was looking for. I am planning on documenting the process photo/video so hopefully a few can benefit from it

2000 K2500 8.1 Swap

I am planning on doing this exact swap in my 2000 C3500. It has a tired 5.7 with 217K miles. I bought a donor 2002 C3500HD with the 8.1 and 86k miles. I haven't started the project yet but am looking forward to it.
