    R4 Scroll Compressor Experience

Thanks for the update... Is something like this what you installed? https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=12710637&cc=1031184&pt=17507&jsn=981 That compressor in the link looks very different from the R4 pancake that comes with the early 90's. If what you installed looks like the pic in...

    R4 Scroll Compressor Experience

Id be using this on a single cab. Any threads you can point to that would be helpful? I was looking at one of those GDP scroll compressor kits on RA that replace the old pancake on an early 90's, but it seems people don't like the scroll type either. (I don't know a lot about these compressors...

    R4 Scroll Compressor Experience

I would be interested in trying this out. If I'm able to use adapters, etc. so I can use the existing R4 bracket... I'd definitely get a sanden to resolve this.

    Steering Pump Bleed Procedure?

thanks for the heads up on this. I've always used the service manual method, but id rather do it the other way if it saves me a headache.

AIR Injection needed for 88 K1500

I went through this a couple of months ago when I was looking at an OBS that was for sale. I wasn't able to track any smog info through the vin. I think it really depends on your under hood emissions diagram sticker. (I refer to it as 'under hood' but it's normally on your fan shroud.) If you...

AIR Injection needed for 88 K1500

I try not to push my opinions on other people, but I would caution you to consider Playing with TBI's comment before you go out and buy a bunch of air system parts, assuming your truck is a 5.7 or 5.0. I am intimately familiar with two pre-94 5.7s that test & pass smog every 2 years in CA and...

AIR Injection needed for 88 K1500

CA does have their own, more expensive, catalytic convertors though. They check the numbers at every smog test in my experience.

    Shorty Headers

This right here... for me it's worth it to avoid dealing with cracked manifolds, or worse... broken bolts in the head. Sometimes they shear off on their own, without the help of someone trying to remove them. Even if there was zero hp/torque benefit id still swap to shorties to avoid the...

    Shorty Headers

Thats a nice pic. you would think they would come tack welded like this on the shorty headers with carb stamps, since they're intended for smog compliance... but it's easy enough to do if the hose clamp becomes an issue. :)

    that's a good point... thanks

    Thread Locker

So what's the conclusion here... I was about to use this (high temp thread sealant) on the oil pressure sender, with the assumption that it would not lock the threads anymore than the white permatex sealant would. Is there a reason I should be using the white sealant on the sender instead? (I...

    What is this?

wow, that's lotto winning luck. not to sound cheesy but the truck can be replaced, your bodily parts would have been a bigger loss. getting another OBS is more fun when you're healthy. cheers

insane pics... hope you made it out uninjured, but that looks like it would have been difficult.
