    Misfire Issues 98 5.7L

Hey folks, have a 98 Suburban in my shop right now, experiencing a misfire condition. Started out with a code for the number 6 cylinder. Pulled the pug out of that cylinder, was damp with fuel. Figured no spark, so went to the distributor next. Took off the cap and found quite a bit of corrosion...

Still working on getting it set up in the farm shop. Got the bed moved there today, and pulled out some of the things to start assembling the dash and do the wiring work on it. Need to address the rust holes in the bed, and then start fabricating steel crossmembers for that. Decided to do steel...

Parasitic Draw on Courtesy Lamp Circuit

Hey folks, solved the issue this morning. Turned out to be the lights on the vanity mirror. The cover had broken and was no longer depressing the switch fully to turn it off. Disconnected the wire and the amp draw went away. Should be good to go now. Thanks for the suggestions!

Parasitic Draw on Courtesy Lamp Circuit

Thanks, as mentioned I didn't see anything glowing from the interior when the shop lights were off, but I'll check the ash tray for sure. Another thing I was just thinking of checking was the lights on the vanity mirror.

    1950 F-2

Hey folks, been a very long while. But I'm happy to report there is progress beginning again on the '50 project. Cleared out a spot in the farm shop to move it into and got her all tucked in there. Should be much easier to get things done on it having more space to actually work in, plus all my...

Parasitic Draw on Courtesy Lamp Circuit

As the title states I am diagnosing a parasitic draw that kills the battery on a 1998 Suburban. Battery was replaced a few weeks ago thinking that was the issue since it was 5 years old which is the typical life expectancy of a battery anyway. However the new battery is getting drawn down after...

    P0430 and Drivability

Thanks for the information! Will tell her not to worry about it and just drive it for now. I'll get a set of spacers to throw under the oxygen sensors after she gets back from the trip.

    P0430 and Drivability

Hey folks, have a P0430 code in the 98 Suburban. Coworker that I sold it to a few years ago needs to drive from Southern Oregon to Tucson Arizona in a few days and she will make the return trip in a few weeks. Everything else checks out on the old truck as good to go except for the code, it has...

    1950 F-2

Sent you a message on the farm thing, can certainly give it a try and make that happen! After all the October farm events and getting finished up with field work for the year I should be able to spare a little time here and there to work on the 50 for my mom, or at least that is the hope.

    1950 F-2

Just going to bump this back up there as motivation to try and find the time to get back on the old girl. Been well over a year since I last logged in on here, got sidetracked with a lot of other stuff. Got the 05 GMC all set up as my work truck and retired the Suburban. Had a co-worker that...

    1950 F-2

Sadly it has been over a month, and I have absolutely nothing new to add in here. Bought a 2005 GMC Duramax utility body truck to outfit as my service rig and retire the Suburban from active duty, so any free time I have for a while will be spent upfitting that truck.

    1950 F-2

Definitely not this year. Maybe next year. I doubt I'll be getting much done other than little bits and pieces this summer. Way too busy at the farm. About the only time I have to work on it currently is a couple hours in the evenings depending on how late I get home. But putting it in Back to...

And clear is on! 4 thick coats. Have a few runs, should be plenty thick to be able to scrape them down with a razor blade later, then do the final sanding and buffing.
