Got that piece welded in today, mostly. I didn't do a part of the bottom because it might be getting trimmed off. Yes I know, not the prettiest welds. What's the saying, a grinder and paint make me the welder I ain't.

Over the last week I've been working on the cab mount. Got the mount itself placed in its spot and welded on one side. Most of the metal it welds to was rusted out, so I'm making patches for that as well. Spent a couple hours today making up a piece that will tie the floor and inner cab corner...

Got the new driveshaft in last week. Looks good, hopefully it won't have a bunch of vibration. It's a Dorman brand, their website states that it's balanced already.

Looks like you got it figured out, I look forward to seeing your repairs. I was lucky that the rear section of my frame was just a little pitted, so no major work back there for me. And thanks for linking the rust buster front section, I was hoping they would come out with that. Probably the way...

Nice work, I love seeing you bring this truck back from the brink. I'm interested to see how that rust buster frame patch turns out. I've got one hole in my frame that I need to address, but it's up near the firewall just forward of the joint where the boxed section meets c-channel. Also I'm...

Pulled out the driveshaft to replace the u-joints. The one that goes to slip yoke was easy. The one that goes to the axle refused to come out. Both of the caps got stuck in the driveshaft. One of the shaft's yoke ears was quite beat up, might have been a contributing factor there. Pressing on...

I've been getting a bit of work done on the truck lately. Got the driver side rear cab mount out and it did not look good. Neither did the floor around it. I made a patch for one part of the floor and got it welded in. Applied weld-through primer to the area. Next up will be the new mount.

Thanks Jonf. I won't make any promises, but once I get to the point where the truck is ready for paint, I will reconsider if I want to take that on or not. The painting doesn't so much scare me as the prep work.

Progress has been slow the last two weeks, but I've got most of the rear frame top coated and looking good, at least for a truck that spent 22 years in the salt. I also got the new spare tire cross member in last night. Went in fairly easy, I was able to get it into place mostly by hitting it...

    Seat belt buckle bolts stuck

Good point, I removed that part from my reply.

    Seat belt buckle bolts stuck

I also stripped out that bolt when replaced my seatbelts. My dad and I ended up cutting the head off of one of the bolts. We then very carefully drilled most of the bolt out, coming just short of removing the entire bolt. What remained at that point was just a paper thin amount of the threads...

I also started to attack the driver side rear cab mount. Once I get done with the rear frame paint, I plan to move back to finishing up the cab rust repair. I was orginally intending to do all the body work and painting myself, but it's been two years since I've driven it on the road and I'm...

Tonight I got the first coat of rust sealer on the rear frame. I used Mastercoat Orginal Permanent Rust Sealer. Goes on pretty nice, and a little goes a long way for sure. The product's instructions state re-coat times are between 3 and 48 hours, so I'll re-coat it tomorrow after work. And...

Yeah that would look good. I suppose it's a bit harder to find stuff like that 3/4 ton and above, not as much of a market as there is for 1/2 tons.
