Random drops in oil pressure. 5.7 vortec

One thing I have seen small blocks do is loose the pickup tube off the oil pump. It still picks up oil normally except once in a while it will pull in a bubble of air. The oil pressure drops suddenly then returns to normal like you describe. Usually low oil level, uneven terrain and high speed...

Brake lights dont work after changing steering column

OP, Can you elaborate on what the exact problem and what the solution was? It drives me batty when I go looking for a thread where someone with the same problem I'm having, only to find that the thread dies without any info on the actual problem or solution. Thanks!

    Fan Conversion and Electrical Question

That's a nice looking kit! how does the resistor work, is it IC controlled or turns on certain relays at different temps integrally?

    Fan Conversion and Electrical Question

I built an E-fan system for mine, first tried out the budget stuff from Hayes I think and ended up almost blowing my engine when it failed. Now I have it pretty nailed down, I used a CS 144 from an Olds for the Alternator. I did have to Fabricate a Bracket, but my truck is TBI, and Vortecs...

    Fuel Pressure Regulator

You should be fine. I installed a Camaro TPI type pump inside my tank which is designed to deliver 43 psi and 155 gph iirc. it runs just fine and has for a couple of years now. The stock regulator is just a spring under a diaphragm that opens the return passage when the pressure reaches a set...

    Weird Brake Problem

Most likely air in the lines have caused the proportioning valve safety cutoff valve to move just far enough to turn on the light then turn it off again. It's not uncommon after the hydraulic system has leaked down or been serviced. The fix is easy but messy. Top off the reservoir, cover it...

Helps. Can't get timing to cylinder 1 tdc on distributor

CAMSHaft correlation error. the crank sensor and cam sensor aren't hitting TDC at the same time. In older terms the distributor timing is off. Best bet is to carry it to a place that has a scanner to line the sensors up.

    AC refrigerant level check?

I see this problem a lot with some of the newer trucks and it's usually pretty easy to figure out. First, watch the A/C compressor to insure when you turn the A/C to max that it turns on and stays on. If not, you have to find out why. The low pressure cut-off switches and wires are always...

Front coilovers on 98 k2500 suburban

I have a 95 k2500 and have had similar thoughts. Weld on a sturdy shock hoop for your upper mount and build a bolt on cross brace across the top of the motor like the ricers do. that should keep the frame sturdy enough on top. the bottom I haven't quite figured out but if the baja guys are...
