hey everyone,
I posted a while ago about putting a vortec 350 into my 1991 305 5 speed TBi truck, but i decided to 5 speed swap the 1998 instead because it has a lot less rot. Anyways my concern is that since the donor of the 5 speed is a pre-vortex truck, what all will I need to do with...
I wheel the piss out of my 88 k1500 rcsb. Im running 2500 light duty rear springs and an add a leaf (totals about 1.5") and a 2.5" front crank with ball joint flip on 33 12.5 r 15s.It definitely rides a lot rougher than stock, but I didn't just crank all the way up I left about 1/2 an inch...
As for the surging while accelerating, my truck (1988 k1500 350 TbI 5 speed manual) had the exact same issue. sure makes it a mother trucker to drive. My issue with that was my 02 sensor wire got burned on my header, so that may be something to check
my 88' k1500 has 213k on bottom end of motor, 5 speed tranny, and body. Transfer case has been rebuilt, clutch has been replaced, and I'm on my third 10 bolt.
Thanks! I couldn't find a darn thing on this subject. Will the booster swap help me out without swapping the brakes? Also my truck is a k1500 so would I need to swap knuckles? Its 4x4 so I don't have spindles.
My issue was that something in that rear harness that splits to the taillights was pushing power thru the ground wire. I replaced the harness and now everything works perfectly
I know this post is a couple weeks old, but I had the same issue, couldn't find any anywhere. Thank go my buddy had a parts truck laying around so I stole them off that.
Im currently having a similar issue. Ive replaced the circuit boards on the taillights and all the bulbs. I also inspected the whole rear harness for damaged wires. Ive narrowed it down to a bad ground somewhere in the truck. Ill let you know if I get my issue figured out.
