yeah i learned this the hard way when doing my engine swap. The guy at NAPA gave me the longer bolts for my smaller starter creating a nice grinding sound when started.
I swapped out mine on my 97 when it went bad on me in just a few minutes. I didn't even replace the ujoints. It takes a little sweet talking but overall fairly easy installation.
Alright guys. I bought the motor the other day and started tearing down everything off the old one to save my mechanic buddies some time. Waiting on them to finish tearing down everything off and put the new one in. It's supposed to snow here in southside VA soon.
Hey guys I meant to tell y'all earlier that I was offroading hard on my 97 K1500 4.3 over Thanksgiving and my truck let go on me. It knocked off and wouldn't start; I ran the battery dead cranking and had to haul it home later. When I finally started it up, it made the most awful squealing noise...

Update: My mechanic has a fancy scan tool and a love for spending other people's money and has put a coil, control module, new distributor cap, and who knows what else on my truck. I'm already in the hundreds on this problem lol. It still has the starting issue and the jumping/ missing problem...
Thanks RichLo. I'll make sure to check the other grounds. The one on the fender is clean, I don't know about the others I know they can get aggervating. I changed the crank sensor this morning. Once the truck got heated up good (5 miles) it started misfiring violently. It was so bad it shook the...
