Weight is a factor also, the big block adds a fair amount of weight on the nose also.
I use a small block of wood and rubber hammer to slightly bend them out of the way, same for static drop with spindles, works every time.
LS all the way is my vote, but I am biased, I love mine!

If anyone tries to use the GMT 800 booster, I would be interested to hear about whether or no the brake push rod will work with the GMT 400 pedal,...
I have done 4 of them and have not trimmed the ends of any of them, there is enough gap factory to fit the pieces in.
It's a bad pic, but here you can see the plates that I weld on to both ends of the trans crossmember.
I weld a small plate to both ends of the crossmember and bolt it to the sides of the frame, have done this many times, works great and is strong.
Both trucks are looking good, keep up the good work!
A 265/35/22 fits perfect while laying frame, and it is 29.3 tall, just barely taller than the stock 235/75/15's
