Writeup: Installing 5.7 TBI headers on 5.7 Vortec

Did you have any trouble with the shift linkage or the frame rail when you put on the long tubes? I have a 98 Z71 4x4 with the 5.7l vortec in it and I've been told that the shift linkage on my driver's side will need to be modified and I would have to notch the frame rail on the passenger side...

That's going to be my next step after my buddy from work tries his scanner tomorrow. He has an obd2. He also knows way more about fuel injection than I do lol.

Honestly idk what kind it is. Its what was in the truck when I bought it. My truck was an absolute beast until I had to replace the intake gasket. I've thought about replacing the distributor but it doesn't look like it is bad

Yea I know that you don't use a timing light lol. It's definitely a load of bull that the dealers won't work on it. My buddy has the obd2 scanner. The only code its throwing is the P1345. He reset it and moved the distributor some but it still throwing up the code. Im just frustrated and...

Is the scan tool a dealer specific thing? My regular shop told me I have to take my 98 5.7l vortec Z71 4x4 to a dealer to get the P1345 code fixed. This is the first fuel injection truck I've ever owned. Im out of ideas on how to fix it. I had to replace the intake gasket and I put it back...
