    Aussie GMC C3500

I ended up only putting about 20,000km on it in nearly 5 years. It only did the accasional tip run for house renovations and wasn't getting a lot of use, hence the sale. The cost to keep it wasn't being outweighted too well considering the rediculous registration and insurance costs for such a...

Hi all, just thought I'd update and say I've now sold the GMC. Thank you to all who have helped over the years and freindships made. It's been a sad departure, I've never put so much time, money and effort into a car, and yet it's been the most unique and fantastic truck I've had and also the...

Hi Miles, good to hear there's more ex-ambo's about. There's gotta be enough getting around for an ex-ambo club.

H Dario, PM me if you need any help with the conversion should you go down that line - I'm happy to help with what I can. For me it was worth every cent (actually thousands of dollars!) How do you go driving that beast on Italian roads???

Okay quick update time; Rear end was checked after the ring and pinion swap and all is good there, so new oil went in. While the cover was off the breather was cleaned, rear brake shoes changed, rear wheel bearings and seals installed and wheel cylinders swapped. On the front end, oil pan...

New U-Bolts are in and rear end alignment is done. I'm going to tackle the rear wheel seals, bearings, shoes and cylinders next. I think I've seen enough videos to give it a go. I'll be sure to take plenty of photos. From what I've seen the full floating rears are much easier when it comes to...

Thanks, it's off to Queanbeyan next week to get an alignment. They also make their own U Bolts so that is good news as they will make them to suit. The new leafs are so short but hopefully they will stop the pack from frowning. It has got a steep stance now but I think they will settle a bit...

Okay so quick update... the 'add a leaf' springs are in, what a pain in the *$@!! Who put the handbrake cable there? Anyway, they seem to give it some height and should help when loaded up. The U bolts are a tad short now so I'll have to purchase some more of those. They do tighten but sit about...

The floor is all welded up and sealed, it's much more comfortable in the cab now. Tomorrow my goal is to swap in the 'add a leaf' springs. I haven't undertaken that job before so I'll see how I go and report back.

    RHD swap in the states?

I might be able to give you some advice from this side of the Pacific... I really can't see how it would be worth doing, but If I happen to live over there and wanted to do such a thing, I'd import a dash from a Holden Suburban. They were converted in Central / Southern America from memory and...

I'd love to say it's progress, but in a backwards way maybe... The clutch pedal was hitting the firewall before it was fully engaging, and by doing so was pulling the rubber pad off and sometimes making it a little crunch on the gears when I was being lazy. So, with very little room left and...

Okay I'm leaning toward gear rollover being the noise I'm hearing. That has me a little more settled. I did purchase the below shifter boot which should also help. I'll make a custom shifter later so it's more 'seamless'. But for now it will do.

Hi all, So got the gearbox back in and decided not to take off the engine oil pan - rather just nip up the loose bolts, which there were a few. Firstly, I changed to a semi-synthetic 15W-50, and wow this runs so much quieter now. the 10-40 or 5-40 I had in there must have been too thin. The...

Okay I open the floor up to harsh criticism, especially considering this... I had a steel bearing in behind the input shaft over the main shaft, but the correct one is made of plastic housing and like the other one below. They do look similar? This should stop the lateral movement of the...
