    Yet another air conditioning thread!

Excellent, that would definitely make more sense as the other schematic seemed fine to me when I was checking. I'll verify power at both of the VCM pins involved to see whats going on. Thanks! :) Edit: Yes, I have jumped both switches at the same time.

    Yet another air conditioning thread!

Under the hood, in the electrical center box, where the relay would typically live. If you were to look at the diagram on the relay, I am putting a wire between terminals 87 and 30, which turns the compressor on or off. Yes. I have tried running it with those switches bypassed, not bypassed...

    Yet another air conditioning thread!

A/C fuse is good, has continuity and is rated for 10A. I have ~12V at the low pressure switch, and ~12V at the high pressure switch (on the harness connector). I tried backprobing the low pressure switch, and got no voltage. I also checked the climate control module in the dash referencing the...

    Yet another air conditioning thread!

I put a jumper wire on the harness at both the low pressure switch as well as the high pressure switch, with no success. I've done it with only the low pressure switch connector jumped, then the high, then both. Only way I can get the compressor to turn on is by jumping it at the relay. I added...

    Yet another air conditioning thread!

You're right -- I messed up on that measurement conversion. So, sounds like I need to keep going then. Any idea at what point the compressor should begin to engage on its own without me having to bypass the relay?

    Yet another air conditioning thread!

With the temperatures hitting mid to upper 90s almost daily now, I threw in the towel and decided to start poking around with my 97 Suburbans (7.4L, no rear A/C) air conditioning system. It hasn't worked at all in the 4 years that I've owned it. To start, I tested the clutch on the compressor...

1997 Suburban - Rear Defogger Circuit Fault

That's what I was thinking. I'm not too sure if anyone here has access to such information, but I wonder if it's in a repair manual somewhere.

1997 Suburban - Rear Defogger Circuit Fault

I haven't worked on it yet, unfortunately. It has been a busy week for me. Based on the diagram and the damage I found on the drivers side barn door, I am inclined to say the defogger grid is at fault but I won't know until I start poking around.

1997 Suburban - Rear Defogger Circuit Fault

I did clean those connections before I turned on the defogger. When I opened the doors yesterday and looked at the contacts, I noticed that the plastic around the bottom contact was melted. Passenger side was a-okay.

1997 Suburban - Rear Defogger Circuit Fault

Thank you so much east302! These are exactly what I was looking for. I don't normally look at wiring diagrams so I want to clarify a few things ;) What exactly is the convenience center for? Seems silly to have that purple wire for the rear defogger element to connect to the back of it, just to...

1997 Suburban - Rear Defogger Circuit Fault

I'll look into doing that. Any idea if I can just test the defogger element for a specific amount of resistance? Granted that would be documented somewhere, of course. I've been trying to dig up schematics to give me an idea of where else to look. I've only found this, and I don't like what I...

    Daily truck pics

Extremely jealous. Lake Tahoe holds a very special place in my heart. Ironically, I took my Suburban up there from the Central Coast three days after I bought it. It was definitely a fixer upper with a interesting history. But it runs strong and I plan on driving it into the dirt. :) Here's...

1997 Suburban - Rear Defogger Circuit Fault

Hello everyone! I've got a bit of an issue that has me scratching my head. My 97' K2500 Burb blew the 30A "RR DEFOG" fuse under the hood, so I've been without the rear defogger for a few months. Otherwise, the truck has been running great aside from a interior door handle snapping again...

    Loose gear box

Took me a while to get back to this thread, but thanks for the input everyone. I'll get the gear box replaced soon. I might just go ahead and do the adjustment seeing as to how it will only be in the truck for about two more months.

    Loose gear box

Hey there, so I got my truck aligned and got new tires put on and the guy at the counter said that the technician noted that the steering box was loose and the pitman arm needed to be replaced. I'm fairly certain I replaced my pitman arm about a year ago... I'll have to go through some...
