    Post your winter mode!!

Summer mode: Mastercraft Avenger G/T, 235/60R15 on the fronts, 295/50R15 on the rears. Not what I would choose but they came on the truck, and I haven't really been able to justify replacing them. Think I'll get one more season out of them come spring. Winter mode: Bridgestone Blizzak...

Cooling Problems - caused by wrong intake?

Yeah that's whats confusing me. Anyways I looked at it and found no markings other than the firing order and cylinder numbering. I think the best thing to do is gonna be take the thermostat out and just take it with me to O'Reilly's and see what it matches with. Seems like it's probably the new...

Cooling Problems - caused by wrong intake?

I'll check when I get home from class. What's confusing me is if its a TBI intake (and it does run so it must be right?), why did my buddy tell me it uses a different t-stat design? He said he tried the original t-stat and it wouldn't physically fit... Thanks for helping me figure this out, I...

Cooling Problems - caused by wrong intake?

Ok, that's what I was afraid of. So I need to go find myself an intake from a TBI motor. All this because of a thermostat! Grr... EDIT: Wait just saw your edit. It won't even bolt in place? then maybe I do have a TBI intake after all... so maybe I do just have a bad thermostat.

Cooling Problems - caused by wrong intake?

Hey guys, I'm at my wit's end here, I'll try to keep it brief. Basically while attempting to replace my thermostat on my 5.7 TBI, my friend broke the t-stat housing bolts, ended up mangling the threads in the intake, and eventually swapped in another intake manifold he got from a machine shop...

Electrical Problem: Starter, Engine Dieing, & More

Well, got her all fixed up and running fine again. Turns out it was in fact a grounding issue. A little backstory; when I got the truck, the negative battery terminal bolt was way too long, I'm talking like 3 or 4 inches. It worked, but a couple months ago my dad got me some normal terminal...

Electrical Problem: Starter, Engine Dieing, & More

Thank you very much! I'll start by checking both of those when I get home. Wouldn't have even thought of either of those. Thanks for the advice. I'll check all the grounds I can find. Power to the alternator should be good but I'll check it as well. After two bad ones from O'Reilly's earlier...

Electrical Problem: Starter, Engine Dieing, & More

Hi all, just spent a couple hours getting my truck home after an unexpected issue. I'm at work now, hoping by the time I get home tonight you guys will have some advice to point me in the right direction. Sorry if this is rambling, but I'm not quite sure what I should be looking for. Truck is...

    Transmission fluid?

Just some clarification for my noob self, changing the filter and fluid is different than a flush? And if I have a high mileage tranny that may not have been serviced for a long time, it would be OK to change the fluid, but not to get a flush? Actually asking for my Firebird which has a...

Nice man, I have a '91 Firebird as my fun car. These thirdgens can be made to handle really well with just a bit of work, they're pretty fun cars IMO.

Hard time starting after truck sits for a couple days

I definitely second getting or borrowing a fuel pressure gauge. I just went through this on my fairly new (to me) truck that I got in April, it got harder and harder to start in the morning, it got so bad that it was taking me 15 minutes of priming and cranking it for it to start. I had the shop...
