Mods to make original radio/stereo sound better???

Would also like to know about upgrading the sound system in my 1990. I’d really like to get better signal (not plug wire related as far as I know) as well as sound.

Dual pipes with X pipe muffler

One thing I forgot to mention. Part of the instructions on the JBA headers say to remove your power steering pump to access the bracket that partially mounts to the manifold, take it off, cut the manifold mount off, and reinstall it and the power steering pump. I looked it over, and instead of...

Dual pipes with X pipe muffler

Hey, sorry for the long time in between posts, but I have my exhaust done. I did the JBA shorty headers and high flow y pipe from summit, and had the pipe run to a 3” in, dual 2.25” out magnaflow muffler, and had those pipes exit out the passenger side, much like the stock exhaust does. I also...

Dual pipes with X pipe muffler

Awesome, thanks. And yes I looked and made sure I do only have one O2 sensor in the drivers side manifold. I must have been thinking of my Nissan

Dual pipes with X pipe muffler

Awesome. So my stock O2 sensor will bolt into the header and the new heated one will go into the Y pipe, or will I need to get two of those harnesses & heated sensors, or am I just confused? And using that adapter I will need to splice into my fuel pump power or equivalent correct? I want to...

Dual pipes with X pipe muffler

Yes it’s a ‘90. I probably just overlooked it, and seen something else. So what would I have to do about changing my O2 sensor(s) over to the 3 wire? Also, why the need for the one in the header when you have one in the y pipe?

Dual pipes with X pipe muffler

Awesome, I had already looked at the JBA cat4ward headers and liked how they looked. I think that would work perfect for mine. For the time being I could hook onto my old 3” pipe that goes to the muffler as well. One question: I have deals bolted into each manifold that suspiciously look like...

Dual pipes with X pipe muffler

Ok, so really I just need to have a new y pipe made and get a new 3” cat? I heard the stock y and cat were pretty restrictive by design to help it pass emissions. I don’t plan on rebuilding it for a long time since I’m in college now, and even then it’ll probably just be around 250-275hp, most...

Dual pipes with X pipe muffler

So based on all of this, for a mild performance build I plan to eventually do to the engine: shorty headers, 2.5” down pipes with individual 2.5” high flow cats or a 2.5” dual in/ 3” single out high flow cat, 3” in/ dual 2.5” out muffler, two 2.5” pipes out the rear. Really the only reason to...

Dual pipes with X pipe muffler

I like this, and from what other people say about the whole single vs dual I might have to look into that, thanks

Dual pipes with X pipe muffler

I’m not looking for much sound, just a nice low rumble to the exhaust. How did that one compare to the stock one?

Dual pipes with X pipe muffler

Cool. I figured, if anything, all I’d do is short tube headers. Hopefully the Magnaflow will be around how loud I want it to be

Dual pipes with X pipe muffler

Hey guys, new to the forum. I have recently bought my great grandpa’s ’90 K1500 that has the TBI 350 and I’m want to slowly build it into an overlander. I had some questions about a new exhaust I was thinking of having made for it. Right now it has the stock 2.25” down pipes that Y into a 3”...
