Thanks for the info I’m not sure they are worth rebuilding honestly for how many posts I’ve found online saying people rebuild them and still have issues.
Laying in bed last got to thinking the distributor did have noticeable uneven shaft wear but no side to side play I could find. I also wire brushed a lot of rust and build up off the magnets on the dizzy. Went ahead and ordered a new distributor and report back with how it does to help others...
Put a new cap and rotor in and a new coil, neither fixed the issue. Looks I’m down to wiring but I’ve been searching all over and can’t find a bad wire.
Another update. Put old icm back in and it won’t even start so I’m not sure new icm is the issue. I also replaced pickup coil at the same time is it possible pickup coil could cause this or perhaps the old ignition coil is messing with the new parts or vice versa?
Replaced the icm they didn’t have a coil in stock and same story. New issue however driving there if I let the truck idle very long it will stumble and die even with the timing advance unplugged. How do I diagnose the coil or computer?
I have no idea how old the coil is. I don’t wanna parts cannon this thing but is it worth getting a new coil and another icm to see if maybe it did hurt the new one?
I had a weird intermittent problem with the truck randomly dying then sometimes restarting and sometimes not. I’ve pulled the distributor and replaced the icm and pickup coil and it already had a fairly new cap and rotor. Shaft look good and gear had no wear on it. Reinstalled now and timed to 0...
Trying to find my buddies old 1998 ext cab z71 that was an aftermarket conversion. Truck was black with green and tan decals on the side. Was lifted around 3 inches possibly with a body lift with wide I think 3 spoke style wheels. Had the molded running boards and stock flares. Also had a Lund...
Transfer case takes the auto track II fluid if it has the "auto 4wd" option and it is regular 3 button will take dextron 3 fluid. Do not use the dextron 6 in the transfer it's only backwards compatible with the transmissions not the t-cases. GM quit making their manual trans fluid which is what...
I wonder if you could get a set for a nbs to fit with some trimming and finangling. The wheel wells look pretty similar between obs and nbs on the beds
Where I used to work in the oil field had a c3500hd with a 6.5 td and granny low that had a custom winch bed with I believe 20k lb hydrolic winch and A-frame poles for picking up tanks and motors. Was a cool truck but sat around so much it would need a whole can of ether to start and would...
The rear of the truck will literally shift over a few inches when hitting a decent bump. Had it aligned this morning after rebuilding the front end and didn't notice it doing it hardly any driving to work. I think the steering so loose is the front in contributed a lot to letting the rear end...
