I have a 98 sierra without A/C. I want to add A/C to it. I know all the under hood business will be an easy swap, and I have the wiring covered.
What about the heater box? Are they different for the non a/c trucks? Or will there be a space inside there to slide the evaporator in...
Well I got it done. I did cut it straight up and down. After talking to a few engineers we decided that straight up and down with a diamond plate welded over top and another plate welded under the tension side of it would be plenty good.
So I measured and squared up some pieces of angle to make...
So got a rear section of frame this weekend. Its a 99 or 2000 3/4 ton 2wd drive. I have it sitting next to my 1500 frame and its really similar. The c chanels are the same height, but the 3/4 ton frame is almost twice as thick it appears.

Thanks for the advice guys. Im going to measure it all up this weekend and maybe get the rear section if it looks like it will work. Ive seen a few frame splices online so Ill poke around at the best way to do it.
Its a lot of work and the rest of the frame is solid somehow. its like this truck was hung from a crane and dipped in salt water ass first its whole life. Rear cab mounts forward is solid metal.

New here but not new to these trucks. I have a 98 gmc sclb. The rear of the frame is in terrible shape. Its to the point where its easier and safer to graft a new frame onto this one. Likely just forward of the last cab mount/first bed mount.
So, I can get a 99 2500 obs 8 lug...
