Finally getting back to the truck! It's been awhile. For now anyway I have decided to leave the front drop as is. I am not confident in using the stock truck oil pan on the 5.3. I researched F body oil pan "kits" and most seemed to cost about $375. I managed to find this "kit" on ebay for $230...

How do you fund your truck project?

I don't have a lot of space. I paid $1000 for it. I pulled what I wanted (5.3/4l60e/wiring harness/pcm/radiator/fans/driveshaft) and spent 2 weeks and a few ads on Craigslist selling off parts I didn't need or want. A guy wanted the tires/wheels and rear end and I could not sell them and have a...

How do you fund your truck project?

Hey Guys, I have found over the years I have had to get creative to fund my projects. Taking hundreds and sometimes thousands of $ out of the "family" checking account caused some "issues". While I still do some of that, I try to fund the more expensive projects by buying something and either...

While I run the 17x7 and 17x8 on my truck, the exact same style is available in 15x8, 15x10, 17x8 and 17x9.5. Check it out...

Rear disc brake conversion keeping 15” wheels

I think my kit uses a caliper with parking brake feature that was used on mid 1980's Cadillac Eldorados. They are inexpensive as well...

Found the answer to a problem today that I personally don't think I would have figured out....What is it you may ask? Well, first off, it is not LS specific. But, it could have been. I didn't show it earlier, but before I could work on the Cheyenne, I needed wheels to drive. A family member...

I've been driving the truck now for about a month. I've decided the front just has too much of a rake to it. From the ground to top of the wheel well, its 29" in front and 31" in the rear. It already has a bit of a rake with the different size tires. I think cutting that 1/2 coil took it lower...

My 94 GMC SL 1500 Long bed

I kinda like the color, it won't show dirt as much. Just clean it up and detail it, nice find with a lot of life left in in while you figure out what you might want to do with it. I just replaced all my suspension rubber/ball joints and steering parts (at 179K). Drives like new again.

Got the front end aligned and washed it for the first time in a couple months....The front is a bit lower than I wanted, I like the rake, but would prefer it an inch higher. Have not bottomed out yet. Soon, I'll post up an evaluation of all the mods both pro and con. For now, here is a couple...

Finally getting it all together. The driver side spring took about an hour after I figured out what I needed to do to get them in. Installing new brakes were pretty simple. Another cost I had not planned on, but should have. I thought I would reused my wheel bearings...dumb idea. The inner...

The tear down was pretty straight forward. No real surprises. When removing the springs, I put a length of chain around it to make sure it behaved when removing pressure. No drama..Here putting in the new parts. One thing to note if you ever do this, the upper control arm mounting points have...

Getting started on the front end rebuild. With the 179K miles on it, it is flat worn out. Still tracks strait down the road, but I don't see how. Everything is loose and worn. I bought all new steering and suspension parts. The only original parts that will stay are the front springs and...
