    97 RCLB checking in

Took her to a mechanic for diagnosis. He said the fuel pressure was fine and I should start by changing plugs and wires, so I did. Truck seems to be running great now, but the plugs have me uneasy. They all are obviously worn out and needed replacing, but are they telling me anything more than...

I'm going to probably let a mechanic deal with it (both a proper diagnosis by someone more experienced, just in case, and the labor). Need to get this thing running right ASAP and a driveway fuel pump job in winter sounds awful!

You're awesome. I had kind of ruled out fuel issues based on the symptom only showing up when engine was warm, but I was wrong. I tested fuel pressure this afternoon and got 50, maybe 51 PSI. So I'm guessing a worn out fuel pump works better cool than warm.

This place seems pretty quiet but I have another question I'll fire into the abyss. 305 vortec been stumbling / misfiring a lot, especially in 4th and 5th gear getting onto the highway or lately, even just maintaining highway speed. It has happened a few times in lower gears as well, going up...

Just got my truck back from the shop with a new slave cylinder and clutch. The front driveshaft was in the bed because it was seized up and the shop didn't want to reinstall it and risk being responsible for damage down the road. I put some work into getting it unstuck, got it reinstalled, but...

Thanks! Definitely sticking with the newer style mirrors :) This week I installed new Depo turn signals and a new-to-me air dam. I wish I had done the latter sooner as I had it in the garage for months. This just looks so much more complete and the approach angle is still better than...

Troubleshoot my clutch hydraulic issue (nv3500)

This is something for me to look into! My pedal is quite squeaky and I had not thought anything of it until now. Here's something weird. Back when I started this thread, it was hot out - temperatures were up to 36* C / 97 F, about as hot as it ever gets here. Now the daily highs are back down...

Welp... that's not good news but at least it's consistent. Thanks!

Troubleshoot my clutch hydraulic issue (nv3500)

'97 GMC K1500, have only owned since May. It has 180,000 km on it so I didn't expect issues like this. I started having a problem where the clutch pedal would go soft and I'd lose the clutch intermittently. It would work after pumping the pedal a lot - sometimes over 100 times to get started...

A while back I installed an LMC HD headlight harness. Got my clutch MC replaced by a mechanic, and he observed that this new wiring needs to be fused. So that's something for me to do, and others to take note of: the kit does not come with a fuse or provision for one. Being the peak of summer...

Okay, that's the kind of feedback I was looking for. I'll probably pass then and just look for a black d/s unit in better condition. Tow mirrors probably overkill for the once a month I tow my boss's flatbed. @Kenny that's right, they're not power mirrors, they just use the same shell. Not too...

Thanks John! Next question for you all, especially those who have owned more than one GMT400 I've taken a liking to the looks of the older style, chrome mirrors like the ones on this Chevy. I'm thinking of hunting down a pair, but only if I can match or improve on the functionality of my...

Got a few more little things done. Picked up new GMC badge for less than $5 at a junkyard. Better than the one the PO rattle-canned flat black without masking anything. Installed a set of Infinity component speakers. After spending hours researching the best place to put tweeters, with...

Uncranked my TBs a bit. She has a little rake now but rides much smoother!

    Aftermarket Headlights and Grille?

The Trucklite / GE (same product) LED sealed units are fantastic, with one caveat. The lenses don't get warm enough to melt snow. A heavy snowfall can render them useless in five minutes of driving. That's the voice of experience speaking. One other small complaint: for the price, they shouldn't...
