I just picked up a ACdelco pump assembly with gasket, float and harness for $124 on Amazon. Also got a new ACdelco MPFI spider assembly for $250 too.

Yeah, there's quite a few good YouTube videos on cutting a trap door in your bed/floor for fuel pump access and if you're planning on keeping one of these trucks for any length of time, you might consider it because you will eventually be replacing the fuel pump.

The 98 I picked up has this HACK in it...honestly ****** me off so much, cant see how this is any easier, or better. IMHO such a half-assed hack. You can take the bed off in about 15 mins..$hit I used to pull the bed off my 01 so I could wash the frame.

Now I get to weld it all up and make it look like it never happened. Such a sad thing...my bed is PERFECT otherwise, ZERO Rust which up here in Maine is worth its weight in gold... If I could find another Un-Hacked perfect bed, I'd probably swap it....

DONT HACK YOUR BED.

I dont understand the the hack door. the pumps dont go out every year. drain the fuel and drop the tank, or pull the bed, Ive done em both numerous times by myself, its not that hard, its not even that big of a pain in the ass!

Dont do the hack door, even if you buy Spectra fuel pumps, The leader in ****** fuel pump parts.

New here and got a question. I searched a bit but didn't find the exact answer I needed.

I recently picked up a 1994 full size Blazer, 350, 4x4, automatic. It has 200k on it, and I'm going through the truck in detail before I put it on the road.

I want to replace the fuel pump just for GP. I've read a few times that there is a "better than stock" replacement fuel pump that should be used, but I haven't found a part number or direct link to what I should look for.

Can anyone help?

Thanks!!!!!

And how long does it take you to "Take the bed off" a Suburban or Tahoe?

People can say what they want but if done "right" there is no downside to a access panel, especially in a tahoe or suburban. I'm gonna do one in my tahoe for this pump swap and I did one in my 99' WS6 as well. If you plan to keep it and know eventually you'll be doing it again, it's worth it. Especially if you don't have access to a lift.

Some say "hack" job, who cares. It's your vehicle and if you don't have the means to drop the tank, do it and don't look back.

The old saying, "there is more than one way to skin a cat" comes to mind.

Cutting the "access panel" has to be harder (if done correctly) and more time consuming than pulling the bed. I used an engine hoist and some tie down straps to lift mine. No help needed and done easily in an afternoon. Would have been a lot quicker if the exhaust shop didn't weld a bracket right on top of two of the bed bolt access holes in the frame.
