Good day y'all

well i have added to the family, i have bought a 1988 gmc sierra gt step side 2wd 454. Here is the funny part i haven't seen this truck in 14 years, but i know my cousin well and he has it in storage for at least 12 of that, there is alttle rust, flats tires and minor stuff from sitting. but its very clean other then that, it has a rebuilt 454, the trans is unknown, I'm guessing the th350 or 700r4 , rear end is unknown but is stock.
so my question is does anybody know about the gmc sierra gt, is the 454 the factory option, or were there options. is there anything special about this truck? or is it just badging? i have heard this is gmc answer for the chevy ss? I'm going to tear down and restore and do some customizing on it but keeping to the old school muscle car/truck theme, and have as a street/strip truck. i will load pictures of it when i get it next month, but i will load the old photos of it later tonight. any info or help would be awesome. not sure if i keep 454 or go 6.0l 4l80e combo i have in a 2000 3/4 ton, and use fi tech or fast to fuel it and i have an art carr winter shifter i was going to install in my lifted 98 k1500, but i will use it so i don't need a tcm in my 88.
shifter will control electric trans, www.radesignsproducts.com is where i got mine, with electric controls, is a true shifter for guys who want no bull function and dependability. will have to buy another one to go in my 98...lol....anyways looking forward to the responses and the build.

I don't know much, but I can tell you a 454 was not a factory option in 1988, however was available in a c1500 starting in 1990 until 1993 in 454ss trim.

Get a mark vi or mark iv bbc, run the 0411 ecm from the 6 liter and have a pmfi 454 and 4l80e.

If you haven't checked already, your VIN # should tell you if the 454 is original.

I would enjoy a closer photo of the engine.

VERY cool truck !!
