Question...I have a 98 2wd LBEC 3/4 ton Chevy. Should it have a 3rd brake light? I have a camper cover now, but it never worked. I never pulled the lens to check.

It should have a third brake light. That was mandated like in the late 80s for trucks. My 95 has one.

There’s evidence that my truck has had underbody neon before. Previous, previous owner dumped money into this truck, it has 2/4 drop, has shaved doors and evidence of a previous sound system. From the looks of things, it looks that underbody glow was just tapped into the running lights instead of using a toggle switch. I’m wondering if some bare wire somewhere has been tipping the body when I hit a bump or go 60mph. Not going to be able to do much with it right now, don’t have a way of jacking the truck up and I’m on such limited income at the moment going out and buying one isn’t an option.

Depending on how they wired it in it could've been a hack job and when they removed them mayb they just cut the wiring or yanked em out.
Like eveready said it could be that at certain speeds the air flow affects it. Mayb try a leaf blower if you can, to determine if anything loose.

At this point I feel the damage is done. I tried taping up the wires that were obvious they weren’t going anywhere when my lights started getting screwy but that effort went to no avail. The front lights are fine as well as the dash lights and all so I can eliminate front half. I’ll try to post a video of the lights acting up.

This is with power to parking lights, right blinker on after pressing the brakes. Brake lights won’t work other than third brake light

Another dumb question. Is it normal for the wipers to make one more pass when you turn them off? Seems dumb that when I turn my wipers off that it has to make one last sweep...usually on a dry window..

Yes that’s normal on any car I have ever owned. Usually has one or two more programmed swipes after running out of washer fluid on the windshield. Even if you turn them off mid swipe they will finish the last wipe they were on.

Here's my stupid question: Is the HVAC control panel for a '94 GMC supposed to have back lighting like the radio above it? Mine is complete dark at night.

It should light up and dim with the dash lights. The bulbs are replaceable if you care to take it out. Then you can check and see if the bulbs are the issue, and replace them.

Edit: Realized 94 was the old style interior. I have a 95 which is the new style interior and does in fact light up. So not the best information sorry!

Thanks Blue Turd (great name). You're correct, '94 is the final year of the squared-off interior. The HVAC control panel comes out easy enough, but it doesn't appear to want to be taken apart. so i thought i'd ask before i broke it (for once!).
