Man that is unfortunate. So you're running the stock lock nuts now?

Are you lifters the stock dimensions? I'm pretty sure i ran the same locknuts and they worked fine. And if you read the reviews on summit someone with a gen VI 454 and the comp pro magnums said they fit.

Yeah stock lock nuts. I think they should be ok as long as they aren't removed and reinstalled. I have a second set in case i need to remove them for some reason.

Factory OEM ac delco lifters.
I can't figure out why it wouldn't work for me, maybe the base circle on my cam is smaller?
But I didn't change push rods, I tested the rocker arm contact on the valve stem and fit perfectly.
Weird.

Weird indeed. Perhaps I changed pushrods, I just can't remember anymore. Sorry for steering you down the wrong road.

Can you still return them?

I hope the stock ones work for you. I tried two different sets of them and kept having issues, which is why I got the poly-locks. Could be I was buying cheap crimp lock nuts though.

Now for tuning options, breaking down my options by cost, time, and amount of effort I have to do. I need it complete by mid November.

1. Hp tuners:
$100 411 pcm from eBay with my Vin already programmed
$500 HPTuners
Time it takes to learn how to tune and finish tune.

2. Blackbear traditional
$50 411 pcm from junkyard
$255 tune based on specs I send
$50 pcm from bb with tune ($100-$50 core from junkyard pcm)
$60 crank relearn at stealer ship
Wait for tune and mailed pcm.

3. Blackbear cable tune
$350 tune
$50 pcm (100-50 core)
$250 refundable deposit on cable
Time to collect logs, email back and forth for final tune

I'm going to vote 1 of course. The time involved isn't that bad, I would provide help along the way if you have HPT. Doing it yourself you'll end up with a better tune, and a better understanding of how the computer thinks - which greatly aids in troubleshooting any issues. Also, the vcm scanner that you use to data-log (comes with HPT) is really nice to just have around. You can log any parameter the computer is monitoring, which is also really nice for troubleshooting. Most GM vehicles newer than our 1998 are also supported, so you can tune those as well.

If this is the only gm vehicle you think you'll ever want to tune, then maybe it's not the most cost effective option. On the other hand if you have other vehicles to tune or you think you may even want to do more mods later on with this truck having your own software will pay for itself, when compared to paying someone to tune it.

If you don't want to learn/do the tune yourself, My vote is #3. It's essentially the same setup I did except a few friends and I chipped in to buy EFI Live V2 and I worked with Blackbear to do my tune.
