Did you do it yourself or pay someone? Hand waxed or buffer? I ask cause I need to wax my daily driver gmt800 Tahoe and I have black trimmed flares like yours. I was going to compound with a buffer and hand wax. I just don't want to get compound or wax residue on the black flares. I was thinking of putting 2" blue painters tape to protect them.

I waxed by hand this time but every 6 months I use my dual orbital machine and clay bar to get it like showroom. Blue painters tape works great to cover areas that you don't want to touch.

Ok thanks. I just bought a 250k '03 Tahoe from the original owner with original paint. I want to bring the pain back to life and know about compound and waxing. Is the clay bar better than compound ? The paint is not oxidized or dull, just a little aged and not shiny like factory.

Clay bar will make your paint baby's ass smooth , then compound followed by polish . When I got my Burb last year the paint was fair but now looks brand new , which for a 19 year old truck is amazing. Auto Geek .com has how to videos plus a huge assortment of products to use.
