Using oil

The only part of the PCV system is the valve itself. If you motor truly has no pressure at an idle (how is it for a cold start in the winter?) then that can wear the cylinders quickly and cause oil consumption. It's what happens to the newer GenIV AFM engines. Just another guess to throw into the pile.

i just don't see how everything can be so worn already and it not even have over 80k on the original motor thy i got off an old man i'm thinking it may be something like the pcv system or maybe leaking oil on acceleration

Are those the original miles on the truck or did you replace the engine? If it was a reman engine then I wouldn't doubt component failure in the least. Granted this wasn't in a truck but we put a cummins factory reman engine in a guys tractor at work and it lost oil pressure after spinning the main bearings. It sounds to me like component failure if the analog gauge is reading low too.

i swapped this motor into my truck i got the motor off a older man out of his 87 c10 with the original miles on it. i've heard mixed reviews about oil pressure i hear that you don't need a whole lot of oil pressure at idle

At an idle, 15-20 psi is ok. If it picks up to at least 40 while you're driving you'd be just fine. Unless there's a failed component, then it's merely a matter of time.

I ended up eliminating mine on my 1992, it had a lower oil pressure problem and it was immediately fixed when I bypassed that, I know a lot of people feel like you need those coolers, but I run brad Penn oil and noticed no difference besides the increased oil pressure.
