I wanna hear your exhaust set up!

Looking to completely change my exhaust up on my 93 with a 350. Cant decide if I want short or long tube headers, or what mufflers I want (been looking at flowmaster) but I plan on doing no cats. let me hear what you have!

Mine would be of no help to you, my truck is vortec 454.

I would go with the long tube headers, more gain with those.

Exhaust will smell without cats.

Flowmaster is ok if your just going for the sound, they don't flow well. Magnaflow is straight through and flows better. Also sounds great.

I'm fairly new to 454s, does shorty headers run through Magnaflow high-flow cats sound like a decent start? And does Magnaflow make a muffler that's quieter but still gives a throaty sound? Anything I should be concerned about running headers like JBA?

I have stock manifolds to Y-pipe then 3'' single in 2.5" dual out Magnaflow muffler that dumps right in front of the rear axle under the truck with turn downs. I am looking to change it because it drones pretty bad at idle and just has a very generic sound. I want to do a single in/single out flowmaster 40 series with single exit in the stock location.

I'm not familiar with those headers and from what I understand long tubes are the way to go.

Not sure what other mufflers they offer but a bigger muffler will be quieter then a small one

I had to go aftermarket for the perforations internal.
I think it is maine frost related.. a working catalyst. they break aprt inside, while continuing to look normal.

all else stayed factory.

the 93 will "bark" much more than this, I went with the large flowmaster sUV on the vortec injection.

I have true duals, with 2.5" pipe. I bought a "thunderbolt" muffler from eBay. It's stainless, two in and two out, straight through with a cross over. It sounds amazing, deep baritone rumble. I had flowmisers, but it sounds way better. Best part, it was $60!!! I have a 5.3l, but wanted to chime in. I have manifolds, probably better with headers.

I currently have the JBAs. They're a pretty good header, stainless steel should help keep them from rusting and the ceramic coating helps keep under-hood temps down. They fit pretty comparably to the stock manifolds, which long tubes would not. They seal well to the head, and their collector design makes it essentially leak proof (no gasket). One thing to note though, because of the collector design you have to run their mid pipes, which adds ~$200 if I remember correctly. These are also stainless steel, and fit nicely. One possible downside is that the mid pipes are 3" diameter, which may hurt low end scavenging some. I honestly cannot tell if there is any difference in low end torque, to try to make up for it a bit I Y'ed the two tubes into a single 3.5" right next to the transmission.

I think they sound good for what its worth.

Also, steer clear of cheap painted headers that aren't stainless steel. I had a set and they only last 2 years before they came apart at the collector. They also didn't seal worth a **** to the heads, and the collector gasket constantly failed.
