Parts to watch for?

What are some rarer or more sought after parts on our gmt400 era trucks? What should I be looking for and possibly getting for the right price off junkyard rigs?
Would it be wise to start grabbing & storing underhood storage boxes? What about overheard consoles? Cup holder insert for 96+ centre consoles? (Doubt anyone wants the CD insert anymore..lol

What pieces do you guys look for or want or need? Thanks.

Let's see, desirable parts I can think of:

Fog light switches (Z71 Tahoes and Tahoe Limited)
Fog lights and mounting buckets (those mounting buckets work on any diesel bumper if I'm correct, hard to find).
Tahoe Limited Side Skirts
W/T rear bumpers that are clean, those I think are pretty easy to sell because they're paintable, lots of people go that route.
Denali or Escalade Center Console
Underhood storage box
Secondary battery tray (I think this was a stock option, puts a battery on the driver's side, if I'm not mistaken).
Any of the "different" clusters (Escalade, Denali, Tahoe Limited?, and definitely Police Tahoe - goes to 130 mph).

That's all I can think of off the top of my head, I'm sure there are others, and some guys might disagree with these, but those should give you some ideas.


Oh, and if you ever see a 454SS being parted out, try and snag the rear end. 14-bolt semi-floater with 5x5 axles. Only vehicle that combination came on, if my knowledge is correct. Very rare, and the 2wd guys like them. I can't wait to get mine fixed up and installed.

The market for parts is dwindling, but a nice straight rust free 4wd 1/2 ton ECSB frame would be nice to find.

There's probably 40 ecsb in our local pick and pull. Blast it and paint it and you'd be set

I can find about 5 under hood boxes & 2nd battery trays. Problem with those is getting them cheap enough to eventually sell for a profit. Lol.

FYI, 5x5 14 bolt Semifloat axle was also used for the factory chassis '91-96 Cadillac Fleetwood Limo... which also includes many of the non factory chassis conversions for Hearse and Flower Cars.... possibly on the earlier ones too.

Factory " AUX ' switch, located to the left of the column in snow plow prep 2500's and the pigtail. Steering wheel audio control for the 1998 steering wheel.

Ill keep my eye out for switches next time. Think I may start organizing all of my extra parts and labelling so I can remember what they are lmao. Have a ton of random **** I don't want around anymore too...Im talking the stock side markers hahah. I think I have 5 pairs of those.

I left an escalade speedometer at the counter the other day because I couldn't make anything off it.

I wasn't getting rich selling parts, it was more about helping people get what they want, but I want to make something for the effort.
